I struggle with perfectionism.
I do mean "struggle" - it is not all downside, and deciding when to listen to the aesthetic instinct's demands is a hard thing.
To help combat that and to force me to produce music, I record a little snippet of music daily.
It can be tiny, it can be sloppy, it can be ugly, it can be improvised, it can be a performance of someone else's piece (copyright permitting).
The only real rule is that I get it done before I go to bed on a given day. I tend to stick with improv as it keeps me from falling into the pit of polishing, which is not what this project is about.
